Shopify integration guide: Connecting store to Checkify Plus

Learn how to connect your Shopify store to Checkify Plus to handle custom checkout flows, sync inventory, and route completed orders seamlessly back to your Shopify admin.

Checkify Plus acts as a high-converting, custom checkout layer for your e-commerce operations. Once connected, Checkify Plus offers customizable pre-checkout, checkout and order confirmation (thank-you) pages, and automatically sends completed order details, including customer information, line items, and payment status, directly into your Shopify backend for further fulfillment.

Before you begin, please make ensure you have an admin access to your Shopify store with an active subscription.

You may complete the connection at the onboarding stage or at any time later.

An option to connect Shopify, among other supported e-commerce platforms, immediately after the registration

For a smooth setup, complete the steps below using the same browser. Keep two tabs open side-by-side: one for Shopify and one for Checkify.

1. How to connect Shopify and Checkify Plus

  1. Log into your Checkify Plus dashboard > Platforms

  2. Find the Shopify card and click Connect

  3. Enter your myshopify store name only. Omit "https://" and ".myshopify.com"

  4. Visit your Shopify store admin > Settings > Apps > Develop apps. Opt for the manual flow

  5. Press Create app and give it a name, for example, Checkify Plus. Confirm your action

  6. Copy the provided App URL (same as Redirect URL) from the Checkify admin and paste it into the two appropriate fields on Shopify: App URL and Allowed redirection URL(s)

  7. Remove the tick from Embed app in Shopify admin checkbox on Shopify

  8. Copy the provided set of Scopes from the Checkify admin and paste it into the corresponding API access Scopes section on Shopify

  9. Pick a Webhooks API version from the dropdown. Always maintain the latest version or one version behind the newest release

  10. Press Release button on Shopify. Double-check the name and the version name. Leave optional notes which may help maintain versioning in the Description field

  11. Open the App settings of the newly-created app to get the required credentials

  12. Copy-paste Client ID and Secret keys from Shopify into the appropriate fields of the Checkify admin > Platforms > Shopify

  13. Press Connect

  14. You will be taken to Shopify to confirm your action

  15. Once successful, Checkify will return the appropriate status in admin > Platforms. You can check the connection details and status at any time in this section of our dashboard.

Once connected, the API (scope) keys will not be visible and available in the Checkify admin for security and privacy reasons.

2. How order sync works

The order export import works in a straightforward way highlighted below:

[ Customer ] ──> [ Checkify Plus checkout ] ──> [ Payment Processed ] │ ▼ [ Shopify Admin ] <── [ Order Created ]

  • Customer records: Existing customers are matched by email; new customer profiles are created automatically in Shopify.

  • Fulfillment: Orders appear in your Shopify Orders list with full payment details, ready for your standard shipping/fulfillment workflow.

3. Common questions

How is this integration with Shopify different from the one on Checkify Pro?

Checkify Pro provides an in-depth sync with the platform. It is useful for merchants whose only sales channel is Shopify. For instance, it is great for regular storefronts.

For online sellers who run online business in different ways, e.g. focus on sales via landing pages or custom flows, Checkify Plus offers more advantages, since it is a headless and platform-agnostic solution.

I cannot complete the final installation step. What could be the problem?

Please verify the following:

  • You are logged in to both Checkify and Shopify via the same browser, side-by-side tabs.

  • You have accurately copied and pasted your valid Shopify app credentials from the released app into the corresponding fields in Checkify.

  • You have granted the custom app all the required API permissions in Shopify.

  • The required URLs are copied and pasted correctly.

  • The Embed app in Shopify checkbox is left unchecked.

If you have verified all of the above and still encounter issues, please contact us via email or through our live Intercom chat. To help us resolve this quickly, please include screenshots or a brief video along with a description of the issue.

How do I refund an imported order?

For the sake of consistency, it is necessary to visit the Checkify admin, Orders section. Locate the order and issue the full or partial refund directly via our admin interface.

I pressed Connect + on Checkify and got "Store will be back" message. How to fix this error?

It means you are trying to connect an offline or a non-existent store. Also, an error will appear if you try adding a store that is not affiliated with you. To fix this, return to the Shopify connection step. Check the field containing your myshopify.com domain name. It must be correct and belong to you. Then retry.

How do I update the dev app to make changes?

Generally, any frequent changes are not required once the integration is successful. However, about once a year, you may need to update the webhooks version. In this case it is advisable to create a new app, as described in this article above. You may give it a name like Checkify 26, Checkify 27, etc., to maintain versioning and clarity.

How do I disconnect the store?

It is done in several clicks. Visit the Checkify admin > Platforms.

Press the three dots and pick Reconnect or Disconnect options.

I’m concerned about the permissions granted to Checkify. How will my store data be used?

Checkify operates on the principle of least privilege, meaning we only request the absolute minimum data required to process your checkout and sync orders. All processed store-related data is encrypted and secure. For more details on how we collect and process information, please review our Privacy Policy and Data Processing agreement.
